Stacy Asher / Design / Art + Social Practice

The projects I facilitate enable people to reflect on their own experiences in public space and culture. They are intended to address the relationship between aesthetics and social processes and to promote the collaborative action of interdisciplinary creativity. Participants develop the ability to communicate visually using art and design as a language that is socially meaningful and culturally critical.

This understanding can occur in the classroom in the education of students in a rigorous academic curriculum as well as through creative practices that serve society. These practices can create diversity of perspectives, experiences and traditions.

I am motivated by the opportunity to create educational models that actively involve art and design to engage learning, and explore a diversity of content, pedagogies, and approaches.
